How we work out the size
We add twice the deepest point to the pond’s length and to its width, so the sheet runs down the sides and across the floor, then add 30 cm on every edge to tuck under the edging. We pick the smallest sheet we stock that covers that, either way round.

The liner, in the same
size as your underlay
Underlay and liner cover the same hole, so they are bought in the same sheet size. Pick a guarantee and the liner below follows the size you chose above.

Laying it, in four steps
- 1
Shape the hole
Dig the pond with its shelves, then pick out sharp stones and cut back any roots you can see.
- 2
Lay the fleece
Spread the underlay across the hole and press it into the base, the shelves and the corners. Let it run up over the edge.
- 3
Liner on top
Lay the liner over the fleece and start to fill. The weight of the water pulls both layers into shape.
- 4
Trim when it is full
Once the pond is full, trim the liner and the underlay together, leaving enough to tuck under the edging.

Questions before you buy
Do I need underlay if my soil is soft and stone-free?
We would still fit it. Stones work their way up through soil over the years and roots keep growing, and once the pond is full the underside of the liner is the one place you cannot get back to.
Can I use it under a rubber liner as well as a flexible one?
Yes. It is made to go beneath all pond liner types, including rubber and flexible liners.
My pond is bigger than the largest sheet, or an awkward shape
Our largest sheet here is 45m x 40m. For a bigger pond or an awkward shape, send us the measurements with the Quote button above and we will work out the sheets you need.
